Remuneration options for Skandia Investment Solutions (SIS)

This section should be read in conjunction with Remuneration payments to you in the Doing Business Guide.

Skandia’s platform allows you to agree flexible remuneration options with the client, to reflect the services you offer.

We offer three types of flexible remuneration for you and the client to agree to. They are initial commission, nominated trail commission and switch commission. These can be taken in any combination.

The rates which you and the client can agree to are shown below.

Initial Commission Nominated Trail Commission Switch Commission
From 0% to 4.5% From 0% to 1.5% (per annum) From 0% to 3%
not available for in specie investments that are re-registered to Skandia. (Collective Investment Account and ISA only) The minimum on an ISA is 0.5%  due to HMRC regulations Not available on the Offshore Collective Investment Bond

All options can be selected in multiples of 0.10% or 0.25% up to the maximum percentages shown.

As an alternative to nominated trail commission, we also offer fund-based trail commission, which varies according to the asset class in which the client’s money is invested.

The typical rates of fund-based trail commission for each asset class are shown below. There are exceptions to these rates and you should refer to the current version of the Funds list for full details of the percentage applicable to each fund.

Rate per annum Asset class
0.50% Equity, Managed funds and Property funds
0.35% Fixed Interest funds.
0.25%  Tracker funds.
0.00% Cash funds, and Cash Deposit (Collective Investment Account and ISA only)

The rate of fund-based trail commission on a fund may vary. Where nominated trail commission has been agreed by the client, a change in the rate of fund-based trail commission on any of the selected funds will impact the level of charges or enhancements being made to the client’s funds.

Fund-based trail commission will always apply unless the client agrees to nominated trail commission.

Fund-based trail commission and nominated trail commission cannot be selected together on the same investment holding.

All our remuneration payments to you are inclusive of VAT if applicable.

The relationship between fund-based trail and nominated trail commission

Nominated trail commission is met first from the underlying fund-based trail commission on the selected funds. If the amount of nominated trail commission agreed between you and the client is higher at the end of a particular month than the fund-based trail commission generated on the selected funds, a charge will be levied on the client's account or bond to meet the difference. If, at the end of a particular month, this amount is lower, we will enhance the number of units in the client's funds with the difference.

The following examples illustrate the impact on the client’s funds of selecting different levels of nominated trail commission where the fund-based trail commission on the selected funds is 0.5%.
