Skandia Team GBR is the British Sailing Team competing in the Olympic and Paralympic classes. It consists of three squads of sailors – the Performance Squad, Development Squad and Transitional Squad. These sailors participate in regattas around the world and take part in the ISAF Sailing World Cup. Each win brings them closer to their goal – to be selected to be part of Team GB, representing Britain at the Olympic Games.
Olympic class competitions comprise 10 classes: the Star, 49er, Finn, Laser/Laser Radial, 470 (mens and womens), Elliott 6 (women's match racing), RS:X (men’s and women’s windsurfers), and three Paralympic classes: the 2.4mR, SKUD18 and Sonar.
To lend our support, we not only sponsor Skandia Team GBR, we also sponsor the team’s individual sailors, Iain Percy and his crew Andrew Simpson in the Star class, windsurfer Bryony Shaw in the RS:X class and Giles Scott in the Finn class.
We also sponsor the UK’s own Olympic classes regatta, Skandia Sail for Gold.
